Mt. Iwate towers above Morioka, Takizawa, Shizukuishi, and Hachimantai. This glorious volcano offers 6 main hiking trails of varying difficulty and landscape. I am confident that if you join me on a guided hike up Mt. Iwate, you’ll find it more beautiful, glorious, and memorable than hiking Mt. Fuji. Yes- I’m serious. In fact, the amount of ascent and distance from hiking most of the trails up Mt. Iwate are actually longer and involve more climbing than the standard route from the 5th station up to the summit of Mt. Fuji. So while I consider this a hike for people who are in good shape and confident in their endurance – it has so much to offer that I love taking people up. Not all trails are created equal, however- and I definitely think some areas that most hikers don’t visit are actually the best parts. Join one of my guided hikes for an unforgettable adventure in the wilds of Japan’s Last Frontier. (After tourism opens up I’ll post scheduled hikes up on this site. Until then, please contact me directly.)
